Installation Guideliness

Using the solution accelerator is quite simple, but some pre-requisites need to met.


the following pre-requisites need to be met before installing the solution accelerator:

PowerShell packagemanager

Installing items from the Gallery requires the latest version of the PowerShellGet module, which is available in Windows 10, in Windows Management Framework (WMF) 5.0, or in the MSI-based installer (for PowerShell 3 and 4).

PowerShell modules

The SMBblueprint module depends on several other PowerShell modules. Most of these modules are also available on the PowerShell Gallery and will automatically install if not already present.

The prerequisites below are only required for version or lower

Microsoft Sign-In Assistant

For the authentication with Azure / O365, the sign-in assistant middleware is needed. You can find it here

SharePoint Online Management Shell

The SharePoint online Management shell is not available on the PowerShell Gallery and requires a seperate install.

You can download the SharePoint Online Management Shell from the Microsoft Download Center.


Open a PowerShell prompt as Administrator (right click and select 'Runas Administrator')

locate the SMB Blueprint PowerShell module and install the module If you cannot install the module using administrative access, you can use the -scope currentUser parameter and value.

You might receive a prompt to install nuget.exe
You might be asked for confirmation to install
Administrator rights are needed or install the module in the currentUser scope

Install-Module -Name SMBblueprint -scope currentUser -Force

PowerShell find module

You can verify the installation by executing the following:

Get-module -listAvailable | where-Object {$_.Name -like 'SMBblueprint'}

PowerShell list module

Import the module to load the functions

import-module -Name SMBblueprint

PowerShell import module

The SMBblueprint PowerShell module contains 3 public functions

Get-command -Module SMBBlueprint

PowerShell Get module commands
